Did you know that the physical feeling you get when you are anxious or nervous is the same sensation you get when you’re excited? 

Whenever you are nervous about doing something, if you tell yourself you are excited you will start to believe it and begin to have a better experience! (12/6/21)

I am a huge fan of The Office, and while rewatching the show again recently this quote stuck out to me. I know the show is full of laughs and the Michael Scott character is never taken too seriously, but what he said here really has a deeper meaning. 

The only way we can truly connect with people is by genuinely getting to know who they are. When you spend time talking with someone and get to know them on new levels, you are likely to eventually create a meaningful friendship with them. (11/29/21)

Many people are scared of the unknown and want to know what their plan is for the next week or year, some people may even have planned out what they want the rest of their life to look like. But when we take a step back and decide to not have a plan, it allows space for all opportunities to become available to you.  (11/22/21)

Mel Robbins shared this quote on Instagram recently and it really stuck with me. 

You are in control of your life, you get to be your own biggest supporter and cheerleader. Remember to be proud of your accomplishments, both big and small. (11/15/21)

The more you use the skills you have, the stronger and more refined they are going to become. But the opposite is true as well. If you limit or completely stop doing something you will eventually weaken or possibly lose the skill set. 

If there is something that you are passionate about, find ways to permanently integrate it into your life. By joining your passions with your purpose, you will see your life grow exponentially! (11/8/21)

All of us hope for greater things, bigger and better life experiences to come our way, but if you don’t have what you’re looking for currently in your life you are going to have to leave the comfortable bubble you are currently in.

This might sound silly, but it really can be that simple sometimes. Water, sunshine, nutrients. All of these are basic needs and are at the bottom of the pyramid of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Make sure you are meeting those needs for yourself and it will be easier to climb the rest of the pyramid to “Self-Actualization” (9/20/21)

The “boxed breathing” technique is simple and yet still very powerful. This relaxation exercise can help to bring your breathing back to its normal rhythm during, or after, stressful situations. This exercise requires no equipment and can quickly clear your mind and relax your body.

Follow the steps below in times of stress or as a form of meditation: 

  • Breathe in slowly through your nose counting to 4
  • Hold your breath for 4 seconds
  • Slowly exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds
  • Hold your breath for 4 seconds

Repeat these steps until you feel calm and re-centered (9/13/21)

Dancing has been proven to help lift people’s moods, ease anxiety and depression, and even sharpen the mind! It doesn’t matter if your dance moves are the best, just get up and dance!

If you aren’t sure where to start, I highly recommend putting on Meghan Trainor’s song “Better When I’m Dancin’” and just move to where the music takes you (8/30/21)

Tom Bilyeu says “the only thing that matters in this life is how you feel about yourself when you’re by yourself”

Many people work to always present the “best” version of themselves, but many times their “best” is what they believe other people are expecting them to be. Doing this though can cause you to both fail other people’s expectations of you as well as fail the expectations you set for yourself.

Instead, choose to be your favorite self. You are the only person who is with you throughout your entire life, be someone you want to spend that time with. (8/23/21)

One of my favorite Ted Talks of all time is by Amy Cuddy where she talks about how to “fake it till you make it”. It all really comes down to how often we practice our habits. Water is formless, shapeless, it flows as it wants to. When water is poured into a cup, it becomes the cup. Poured into a bottle it becomes the bottle. Water becomes anything it chooses to be. When it sits still, it stagnates and grows dangerous and toxic. It is the flow that regulates the water, that keeps it pure and safe. So growing, moving, becoming, shifting are all part of the water’s nature.

It will flow, but it can also crash. It has a power behind it when it needs to. Just like tsunamis and floods, water follows no paths or rules when it crashes. If you want to live life like water, you need to think about when to flow, to trickle, and when to crash.

If you’ve spent a lot of time becoming the bottle or flowing gracefully, maybe spend some time figuring out when to crash. (5/24/21)

Our minds have no way to determine whether or not what we tell ourselves about ourselves is true, so instead it believes it all to be true. Over time you believe anything you tell yourself, so make sure to send yourself positive messages as often as you can (5/17/21)

Many of us spend a lot of time obsessing about the things we don’t like about ourselves or all of the things we wish were different. But what if instead of focusing on those you focused on all of the amazing things you love about yourself? How would your life be different if focused on the good? (5/10/21)

We are never done “finding ourselves”. As we accomplish our goals in life we start to make new ones for ourselves. Life throws us road blocks and detour signs that we never planned for, but sometimes those create the best of memories or lead us on to a new path that we love even more. To “find yourself” is not a destination you can arrive to, it is journey you are always continuing upon. (4/12/21)

I love Marie Kondo and her theory that everything in our lives should spark joy for us. While it’s important for us to determine what in our world brings us joy, it is also important for us to find ways to spark joy for those around us. It can be something big or small, but I encourage you today to find a way to spark job for someone in your life! (3/29/21)

Some of the most rewarding experiences in our lives are also the most difficult. While the struggle isn’t normally enjoyable, would you really want it if it were easy? Just like how lifting weights builds you stronger muscles, going through difficult times in our lives can make us mentally and emotionally stronger. Who else loves joyfulness of confetti?! I know I do! Confetti can be a lot like glitter too, once it’s open it gets all over everything. That’s the best thing when you sprinkle kindness like confetti, though. Once you start sprinkling it around it gets all over the place! And who doesn’t want more kindness out in the world (3/15/21)

All of us have dealt with some kind of hardship in our lives. Sometimes it’s relationships, friendships, family problems, financial troubles, or a whole slew of other things. No matter what you go through, look for a way to find personal growth through the situation and come out even stronger on the other side. (3/8/21)
